ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Early Tuesday morning, an Ithaca homeowner stopped his own house from being burglarized. In the confrontation, Ithaca Police say the homeowner injured the alleged burglar, who tried to enter a house on North Plain Street.

The suspect then fled the scene, and was later found by a Tompkins County Sheriff Deputy traveling through the city.

The homeowner injured the alleged burglar enough to make police airlift them to an area Trauma Center for treatment. Police say their injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

The suspect's name has not been released at this time. Charges against the suspect are currently pending. No charges have been brought against the homeowner.
